I think the director/team is part of the problem, but also the writing is just trash. They probably didn't have good source material to go from. Some scenes since the early episodes are just people grunting at each other.

don't think so, they can definitely cut these scenes and make fights better. maybe budget issues and trying to fill in the time with least amount of work.
